BPI BA-T Field Exam Prep Course

This course prepares qualified students to take the BPI BA-T Building Analyst Technician certification exam. Students will review the types of questions that will be asked during the written and field exams and take one final exam assessing their Energy Auditor skills. 

Participants should know the following prior to registration: 

  • How to use the following equipment and interpret results:
    • Blower Door
    • Pressure Pan
    • Manometers
    • Combustion Analyzers
    • Tape Measure
  • How to perform an audit on a natural gas/propane home.
  • Common health & safety concerns and how to remediate them.
  • Interpret audit details to recommend changes for energy proficiency.

BPI HEP EA Field Exam Prep Course

This course prepares qualified students to take the Home Energy Professional Energy Auditor certification exam. Students will review the types of questions that will be asked during the written and field exams and take one final exam assessing their Energy Auditor skills. 

Necessary skills to pass the exam include: 

  • Conducting a precise energy audit of the building
  • Collecting the required data to create a comprehensive report on the energy consumption of the building
  • Creating a detailed work order outlining the benefits and pay back of recommended energy conservation measures
  • Demonstrating knowledge of specifications and standards
  • Performing building and safety diagnostics
  • Recording/reporting findings and concerns
  • Communicating effectively with the client.  

Upon successful completion of this exam, each student will receive a certificate of completion. Student learning will be assessed using quizzes, instructor observation, field activities and an exam. This assessment informs the instructors and students of areas requiring additional improvement.

About the Exams (You will be able to choose one):

  • BA-P Written Exam:  60-question 2.5-hour exam 
  • HEP EA Written Exam:  100-question 2.5-hour exam   
  • HEP QCI Written Exam: 50-question 2.5-hour exam 
  • Healthy Homes Evaluator (HHE) Written Exam: 50-question 1.5-hour exam. 
  • Healthy Homes Principles:  Non-proctored exam and open book exam.  Please contact BPI to take this exam at your own pace. 
  • Accommodation Notices may increase the time allotted or provide other modifications to assist a candidate challenging the exam. BPI issues the Accommodations.   Please contact BPI or OTI for further information.  

Prerequisites

  • BA-P Written Exam:  BA-T Certificate 
  • HEP EA Written Exam:  BPI Energy Auditor Approval Letter 
  • HEP QCI Written Exam:  BPI HEP EA Certificate 
  • HHE Written Exam:  ONE of the following—Building Analyst (BA), Building Analyst Professional (BA-P), Multifamily Building Analyst, Energy Auditor (EA) or Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification. 
  • Healthy Homes Principles:  Non-proctored exam and open book exam.  You will contact BPI to take this exam at your own pace.
