Energy Analyst

March 9 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

REA Energy Analyst is in alignment with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy Job Task Analysis (JTA) of the Energy Auditor. The course is broken down into five days of instruction focusing on the job description/duties outlined in the JTA.

This course is designed for the comprehensive evaluation and documentation of a performance-based energy audit specifically of the building shell, assessment of the efficiency and safety of the mechanical systems, and to establish the most cost-effective weatherization strategies using skills learned in the course. These include principles of energy, energy and the building shell, air leakage and the dynamics of pressure differentials, insulation types, windows and doors, heating and cooling systems, indoor air quality (including ASHRAE 62.2-2016 calculations), lighting and appliances, water heating, and health and safety. Students will learn the fundamental concepts related to building science, air leakage testing, and performance-based energy auditing. It also provides hands-on training with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including the blower door, duct blaster, and combustion analyzers. This is an intensive, five-day training course.
